About the role

Essex Muslim Centre in Chelmsford is recruiting a paid Madrasa Teacher for its EMC Madrasa. Classes run on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10am to 1pm and on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7pm, for children aged 5 to 12.

You will teach Qur'an, tajweed, hifz and Islamic studies using the Nasea Madrasa Curriculum, adapting lessons to different ages and tracking each child's progress. The role also means modelling good character, managing the class calmly and positively, guiding any classroom assistants, keeping parents informed and following safeguarding policy closely.

It suits a patient, reliable teacher with strong recitation and tajweed and experience of teaching children.

What we're looking for

  • Sound knowledge of the Qur'an and core Islamic studies
  • Strong personal recitation and tajweed
  • Experience teaching children Qur'an or Islamic studies
  • Enhanced DBS (or able to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship)

It would also be good if you have:

  • Ijazah, hifz or tajweed qualification
  • Teaching qualification or Islamic studies degree
  • First aid and safeguarding training
